The Jordan 13 was released during the 1997-1998 season; prior to Jordan's second retirement. The design takes its inspiration from the black cat. Tinker Hatfield saw how Mike moved like a predatory cat and he came up with these. The outsole with pads like a paw and circles representing whiskers.
Mike was wearing these sneakers when he hit the legendary game winner in Game 6 of the Bulls' second threepeat in Utah. It was picture perfect.
These were special to me because these were the first pair of Jordans I ever wore. My dad bought them for me and my brother in Hong Kong. I still remember when he took it out of the box and we just lost it. It was better than Christmas morning. We had the black/red colorway. I also loved the hologram at the ankle of the shoe. It just makes everything works. The velvet thing used was also beautiful. I loved the way it performed on the court too. It was lightweight and had good cushioning. It is said to be Mike's favorite among all Jordans along with the 11s. It was probably the first sophisticated shoe I wore.

These were retroed early this year as part of the countdown package along with the Jordan 10. The color was the original black/white that I used to want instead of the red/black that I got.

A retro version was released last year in white/wheat colorway. I loved it and hoped to grab a pair but it wasn't in my budget and I waited too long before thinking about grabbing them. Now their all gone=(
