Converse 100 Year Anniversary Special

Pulp Fiction

Quentin Tarantino's Pulp Fiction is nothing short of a masterpiece. Its rich dialogues, paradox of humor and violence and the nonlinear story line that is Tarantino's forte is what makes it great. The different story lines, from the iconic duo of John Travolta and Samuel L. Jackson to Uma Thurman to Bruce Willis to Tim Roth and everything in between, it is one of the best films I have watched. If you haven't seen it yet, put it on your must watch film list before you die.
Pop culture references all around, extensive use of pastiche and homage made this film spectacular. I loved the story line and the way the stories were told in a nonlinear way. I love the casting. I love Samuel Jackson's Bad MotherFucker character.
The film's marketing, development and distribution has had a sweeping effect across the field of independent cinema. It is a cultural watershed that is felt across several popular media.(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pulp_Fiction_(film)

I Miss Hong Kong

Oh man! I can't take this anymore. I want to fast forward to the day that I leave the Philippines for something better, brighter and overall just anti-Manila, Hong Kong. It is my one of the best cities in the whole world. I can't wait any longer. I am just to fucking anxious to leave the Philippines and never come back. I'll be damned if I ever come back. Seeing all the pictures of Hong Kong on the internet gives me butterflies in my stomach. I always imagine myself in the city. Living there. Not worrying it would all end in a week or in a day like it always does when I go to Hong Kong as a tourist.
I miss the smell, the sites, the people, the small things that make the city. I miss layering during the winter and having 4 seasons in a year. I miss the MTR, the tram, the comfortable buses and the non-stop walking. I miss hearing the timer on the stop lights, the Chinese neon lights, the mountains in the background, the beautiful view of the Hong Kong harbor and the fusion of British elegance with Chinese ingenuity that is evident throughout the city.
I miss MongKok, Causeway Bay, Tai Koo Shing, Fortress Hill, Sham Shui Po, Kowloon, Tsim Sha Tsui and the different MTR stations I've been in. I love that I can buy different types of international beer at Wellcome or Park n Shop. I love the noodles I eat everyday, the naicha that I drink every meal and the dai pai dong that I eat at where I share seats with strangers. I miss the hurried lifestyle of the city.
All in all, I love Hong Kong more than anywhere in the world, but Tokyo, Seoul, Taipei, Shanghai in the Far East or Vancouver, LA, Vegas, New York, London in the west aren't too bad either right? Just get me outta here!!! Remove my Philippine citizenship!

Victorious and Jobless

Lately a lot of good things have been going on in my life. I have a bunch of job interviews that I like. And I keep passing the job exams I am taking. Although I am quite sure these companies won't even think of getting me.
I took my exam at Monde Nissin 2 weeks ago. I wasn't expecting to pass, to tell you honestly. I thought what the hell I might as well take the exam and not expect them to call back. But after a week I was called and I had my interview last Friday. They said I have to wait one more week to determine the results and I am not expecting to pass but getting that far sent shivers down my spine.
I took another exam last Saturday for Proctor and Gamble, probably the barometer of excellence in companies. I wasn't supposed to go because I was expecting to fail the exam. When I got there, there was a lot of applicants of all ages. From fresh college graduates to 30 somethings trying to find a new job. When I got the test paper my initial thought was.. I am fucked! It was very difficult. So I went in and just took wild guesses in most of the items. I wasn't even reading the questions. I finished 30 minutes early because I didn't read the whole thing and was just taking guesses. We were told to stay another 20 minutes so they could check the exam. I thought I should go because it was just a waste of time. I didn't want to wait for them to announce the results because I was certain I failed. But I waited anyway just for the heck of it and my name was probably the 3rd or 4th to be called. I got the paper and I was surprised to pass. I was in shock for like an hour. It was bewildering. So now I am waiting for their email as to what is the next step in my application.
Even though I had these unbelievable experiences lately, I am scared shitless. I know full well these companies won't take me because there are graduates of the prestigious schools in the country that have more credentials than an ordinary student from one of the lesser colleges. But I am taking it as a learning experience. I gained a little confidence from these little victories that I had. Now if only I could translate these to real jobs....

My New Vans

I am so happy with my new Vans Slip-ons. They're comfortable and they rock!

Supra Sneakers

I want to add a little bit of kick in my wardrobe, which means I have to add a ton of color in what I wear all the time and I have to have a certain brashness in the things I wear. I have to wear what most guys wouldn't wear and have to adjust my attitude accordingly. I wanna make sure I look the best wherever I go, whoever I'm with, especially if I am thinking of moving to some of the world's fashion capitals such as South Korea, Hong Kong, Japan and Taiwan. So I rummaged around the internet on what kind of shoes I can afford that channels Kanye's Ato Matsumotos, those high cut flashy bright monotone high cut sneakers that aren't too bulky that they look basketball-ish but cartoonish enough to add that extra oomph to your outfit. I came up with these: The Supra Sneakers I found at www.suprafootwear.com

Heath Ledger's Last Performance was NO JOKE

I am stoked for the new Batman film. I am looking forward to watching the Dark Knight. From what I've been reading around the world wide web, Heath Ledger turned in the finest performance of his career as Joker, the greatest villain of all time. From what I've been reading, critics say Ledger deserves an Oscar nod for this one. His Joker is an all-out terror, definitely funny but with a lunatic moral mission to drag all of Gotham, the city Batman thanklessly protects, down to his own dim assessment of humanity. I've been waiting for this for a long time. Joker is my favorite villain of all time. From the start of the Batman comics in 1939 until now, he has been a thorn on Batman's side. And based on the pictures I've seen, the Joker is a scary mothafucka. Probably the most demented, twisted villain I'm going to see on the silver screen for a while. I can't wait for July 18, when I, along with the millions watching the film will watch Heath Ledger set the big screen on fire.

This was the article I read:

LOS ANGELES - The buzz over Heath Ledger's performance as the Joker in "The Dark Knight" for the last several months was justified. With his final full film role, Ledger delivers what may be remembered as the finest performance of his career.

A press screening of the "Batman Begins" sequel Thursday night had the audience cackling along with Ledger's Joker, a depraved creature utterly without conscience whom the late actor played with gleeful anarchy.

At times sounding like a cross between tough guy James Cagney in a gangster flick and Philip Seymour Hoffman's fastidious Truman Capote, Ledger elevates Batman's No. 1 nemesis to a place even Jack Nicholson did not take him in 1989's "Batman."

Nicholson's Joker was campy and clever. Ledger's Joker is an all-out terror, definitely funny but with a lunatic moral mission to drag all of Gotham, the city Batman thanklessly protects, down to his own dim assessment of humanity.

Spewing alternate personal histories for how he got the horrible scars on his face, the Joker hides behind distorted clown makeup that looks like a chalk drawing left out in the rain.

The Joker masterminds a series of escalating abductions, assassination attempts, murders and bombings, all aimed at calling out Batman (Christian Bale) and proving to the tormented vigilante hero that they are two sides of the same coin.

"You complete me," the Joker tells Batman, dementedly borrowing Tom Cruise's sappy romantic line from "Jerry Maguire."

Long before Ledger's death in January from an accidental prescription drug overdose, his collaborators on "The Dark Knight" had been describing his performance as a new high in the art of villainy for a comic-book adaptation.

Director Christopher Nolan, reuniting with "Batman Begins" star Bale, told The Associated Press earlier this year that Ledger came through with precisely what he had envisioned for this take on the Joker, "a young, anarchic presence, somebody who is genuinely threatening to the establishment."

"It was though they'd taken the Joker and all the colors, everything of it, and just kind of put him through a Turkish prison for a decade or so," Bale told the AP. "It's like he's gone through that personal hell to come out being this, if you can even call him mad, at the end here."

A best-actor Academy Award nominee for "Brokeback Mountain," Ledger has earned fresh Oscar buzz for "The Dark Knight," which could land him in the supporting-actor race.

Running just over two and a half hours, "The Dark Knight" is a true crime epic. Throughout, the Joker's bag of tricks is bottomless, twisted to the point of horror-flick sick.

"Some men aren't looking for anything logical," Michael Caine's butler Alfred tells Bruce, who's trying to decipher the Joker's motives. "Some men just want to watch the world burn."

Come July 18, when "The Dark Knight" lands in theaters, the world will be watching Ledger burn up the screen.

Japanorama

This has always been a topic I have long been interested in. I love everything about Japan, its culture, the rush, the countryside, the food, the fashion, the celebrities, the sex, the lifestyle and last but not least, the women. Japanese girls have always been in my dreams and fantasies. There's just something about them that just gets me hook. Moving to Japan has always been my greatest dream, albeit an unachievable one.
Here are some pictures from Japan. Japan is probably the most fashion-forward country in the world. Their high socks and short skirts and eccentric clothes just blow me away.
Here are some examples of Japan's culture and fashion.

EDC Action Figures

Edison Chen has gotten so big in not only Hong Kong but the entire East Asia that he already has his own action figure. If it weren't for the scandal a few months back, who knows what EDC was planning to come up with next?!?!
The first 2 toys was created in 2002. It's vinyl and cute. EDC was just a small fish in Hong Kong's shark-infested sea of showbiz industry but you could already tell he had the potential to be big, larger than life BIG! given his ego and his cockiness.
The second action figure is the one that caught my attention. I've been a fan of BAPE for so long but I never thought EDC would be as big as them, even creating an action figure with the guys at BAPE! It features a BAPE mask, hoody, jacket, shopping bags and even boxers! EDC has went overboard with this one. This is the best evidence of his huge ego!
I hate the guy but I can't ignore him. Come on! How can you ignore a guy who slept with HK's finest beauties?

CLOT X Disney

If you're going to release a figure, I can't think of a better way to do it than with Disney and based on one of the more popular animations in recent years, and yet still keeping with streetwears strong military theme. Since the relaunch of their store in Hong Kong, Juice and Clot have released a few special items, this is the newest.

Its a magnification of the "Little Green Army Men" based on the plastic-molded soldiers from the Disney-animated franchise Toy Story. The official Toy Story black Sarge stands 12" tall and it is fully posable, for example, the gun-wielding arm is bendable with it's fully articulated skeleton. The body is produced with soft vinyl "toy-feel" plastic to reflect movie likeness!

The special version from CLOT x 3Mix x How2work is a black soldier instead of green, with a sealed red CLOT logo on the left standing plate. The CLOT x 3Mix x How2Work Toy Soldier is a Limited Collectible. The cardboard package printed with "Leave no man behind" the policy on the front which the black soldiers are quite disciplined. There's a CLOT specially made sticker attached to the package as well. The product will be launched on 26th April and the price is HKD880 for this limited edition.

This must be what heaven looks like

JUICE is a high end street wear shop in Causeway Bay that sells Japanese brands and CLOT items. It is an urbanite's paradise with products ranging from hoodies to jeans to toys to sneakers, everything associated with Edison Chen's CLOT label.

It is heaven to me, being a fan of Hong Kong's street culture. I love everything about the shop.

Juice is located at 53 paterson street [2nd floor - shop a] - causeway bay - hong kong.

I heard it has spacious wooden floors and cool changing rooms.
